Head of Primary Years' Report

Dear parents, carers and our community of Hazel Glen College,
At Hazel Glen College Primary Years, we continue to be proud of our students who continue to experience success in both learning and wellbeing outcomes. Our staff invest thoroughly into their classes to ensure that students are participating and engaging in their learning programs and that lesson sequences are planned for and targeted to student needs. Student progress is monitored and we continue to celebrate student learning growth and gains. Students in the primary years are supported for a range of learning needs and we are fortunate to have a large Inclusion team who use coaching and evidence based strategies to ensure that students experience an inclusive and supportive learning experience. Home and school partnerships are a contributing factor to student success and we thank families for their encouragement and continued support of our learning programs whilst our students are at home whether this is practising home reading, day trips to share real life experiences and to learn about the world, cooking, shopping and playing games to support learning.
This year’s Reconciliation Week theme – All In – invites us to explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation. We encourage families to take up the opportunity to find out more about our Traditional Owners of the land our College stands on, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung. This website provides further information that you may find helpful.
This week, we farewell Miss Jess Laws who is commencing a position at another school. We thank Miss Laws for her contribution to Hazel Glen College and wish her well. We welcome Miss Jessica Bisson to Hazel Glen College who begins next week. We will also be welcoming back Miss Kayla Misfud from the beginning of next term who will be returning from family leave.
We continue to accept enrolments for both Prep 2027 and Year 7 2027. We appreciate receiving these enrolments promptly so that we can begin our forward planning for next year. Please reach out to the College Administration if you would like to find out further information or if you would like to book a meeting or tour to further discuss. Hazel Glen College is a government school that provides a College standard education with state of the art facilities, teachers who invest in students, wide range of subject offerings, community orientated and excellent grounds. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our College community.
