Education Week Highlights

Last week we celebrated Education Week, a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what makes BSPWS a great school! Check out some of our student’s reflections further in the newsletter.

District Cross Country

Our student put in a tremendous effort at the District Cross Country. Our students displayed fantastic teamwork and determination both on and off the track.  Congratulations to all our runners.

A Visit from the Police

A big thank you to Evie’s Mum Tania in 1/2B who came in full uniform to share her policing knowledge with the Preps, 1’s and 2’s. The students had the opportunity to learn about the role police play in keeping our community safe and to ask plenty of interesting questions!

Sorry Day & National Reconciliation Week

Today, 26 May, we acknowledge National Sorry Day, a day to remember and acknowledge the profound impact of past government policies that forcibly removed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and to reflect on the ongoing journey of healing and reconciliation.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week (26 May – 3 June). This year’s theme is ‘50 Years of Deadly’. Throughout the week, our students will engage in a rich program of learning in the spirit of reconciliation, exploring history, culture and the steps we can take together towards a more united Australia.

Wear it Yellow Day: Tuesday 2nd June

During Reconciliation Week, we invite the whole school community to ‘Wear it Yellow’ in support of the Children’s Ground charity. The SRC are running this event as a fundraiser to support education, language and wellbeing programs for First Nations children and families. A gold coin donation is welcome.
