This term, our Year 2 students have been diving into the exciting world of robotics using Indi Sphero car robots! These clever little robots use colour sensors to follow instructions, and students have been learning how different colours control the robot’s movements.
Each colour tells the Indi what to do:
Students have been applying this knowledge by working through a series of challenge cards. These challenges often include tracks with missing tiles, encouraging students to think critically and problem-solve as they decide which colours to add to successfully guide their robot.
One of the most exciting moments is when the Indi robot completes the track and reaches the purple tile at the end—spinning to signal success! There have been lots of cheers and smiles as students test, adjust and finally achieve their goal.
This hands-on learning experience is helping students develop important skills in sequencing, logical thinking and perseverance—all while having a fantastic time.
I’m very proud of their enthusiasm and teamwork and we look forward to more robotic adventures ahead!

Our Year 3 and 4 students have been busy exploring the exciting world of coding using Dash robots! Throughout the term, they have been learning how to program their robots to move in different directions, make sounds and change light colours.
As their confidence has grown, students have taken on the challenge of designing their own coding tasks for their classmates to complete. These challenges require careful thinking about direction, angles, timing and the use of different coding blocks.
This hands-on learning experience has not only introduced important coding skills, but has also encouraged creativity, collaboration, and resilience. I am very proud of the enthusiasm and teamwork shown by our young coders!
