‘Forming lives of faith, hope and love in the light of Jesus Christ’.

CONFIRMATION SESSIONS

Last week, our Year 6 students participated in their final preparations for the Sacrament this Sunday. They went to Amberley Retreat Centre in Lower Plenty to think about and creative express their learning of the Sacrament. Here are some of their thoughts:

At the Year 6 Retreat Day, I participated in the Saint Response. When we got there, we sat at the tables and used pastels to draw our chosen saint for Confirmation along with a gift of the Holy Spirit and a symbol that represents them. - Joshua

In the Saint Trivia, we learnt a lot about the lives of other saints and the process of becoming a saint, including facts like how there are more than 10,000 saints in the catholic church and how Saint Peter was the first saint. - Lucy

Meditation with Mr. Iacopino was challenging and interesting. We listened to the trees rustling and the winding blowing like in Pentecost and walking through a Prayer Labyrinth. - Isabella

My group did an art activity with Mr. Nario where we had to write four fruits and four gifts that connect to confirmation and collage them to our tree cutouts. - Mary

The families of our Confirmation Candidates then spent an evening together discussing the Holy Spirit and what it means for us moving forward as fully initiated Catholics. This session asked for life reflections from the adults and forward planning from the students.

We congratulate and wish all of our Confirmation Candidates a very special time as they are fully initiated into the Catholic Faith and Tradition.

2025 SACRAMENTS

The Sacramental program has concluded for the 2025 school year. We look forward to beginning this process with you again in 2026.

If you have any questions about the Sacraments, please email me at: aiacopino@olps.vic.edu.au

In honour of the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, reflect on her power and impact it has over our school community and your family. Take the opportunity to pray to her this coming week:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen

May God bless you,

Mr Angelo Iacopino
