What's Happening Week 6
What's Happening Week 7
There have been many activities happening at school and lots of activities coming up over the next couple of weeks. So lots of learning to happen and some great events for our families too.
Book Week and Theme
The theme of Book Week is book an adventure. This theme encourages children to see reading as a journey of discovery and imagination through books. To highlight the transformative power of books and stories, emphasising how they transport readers to new worlds and spark imagination. With books, you can be in your own creative world through story and imagination.
This week it was book week. All the Students dressed up as their favourite character from a book. We had a book week parade to show off how cool our costumes were. Then we did book week activities related to books. And the students with the best costumes got a certificate and a voucher that can be used at the book fair. We would like to thank Mrs Ryan and Mrs Watt very much for organising all the fun events we were able to do today and for the week.
Congratulations to the winners of the book week parade:
Book Fair
Throughout the week, students have had the opportunity to visit a book fair where they can purchase books, posters, and stationery. You get to explore different genres that tempt you to delve into new adventures. After you purchase your book, you get to keep it forever and can keep reading it over and over again.
Monday will be the last day to purchase something from the book fair.
Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge
So far, 194 students have completed the reading challenge out of the school and there is still time to be one of those kids. So far, we have read 16,350 books as a whole school. As of today, there will be 14 days left to complete the Premier's Reading Challenge so keep reading and adding books. The Premier's Reading Challenge finishes on the 15th of September so if you have books you have not added to your accounts, it’s time to get them in. We hope to see a big change by the time the challenge ends. Let's keep on READING!
Confirmation
This Sunday, our Year 6 confirmation candidates will be receiving the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation. We would like to wish them good luck on their special day, in which they have chosen a saint's name and a sponsor to help them through their life's faith journey. They will receive the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, these gifts live inside Catholics, guiding, comforting, and empowering them on their paths as they continue to live a faith-filled life following in the footsteps of Jesus.
Kindness Awards
This week, the School Captains observed the way students interacted around the school during break time. We chose 4 people who really stood out to us by their kind actions.
They were:
1. Ryan in 6A for complimenting a few people
2. Charlie in 5B for letting others play with him
3. Amelia in 2C because she asked someone if she had someone to play with, and let her play with her
4. Abigail in 1A for seeing if her friend was okay after falling over
Congratulations and thank you for doing these acts of kindness. You definitely made someone's day a little better. If we all try and do small acts of kindness, it makes our school a better place to be in. You never know when we might catch you being kind.
