School News and Information

STAGE 2 NEWS
It’s hard to believe we are already in Week 8! What a productive and busy term we have had.
This week we started learning and practising our songs for the musical, ‘Lollies’. The children are very excited to be a part of this whole school event. Information will be forthcoming regarding costumes.
During Creative Arts this term, the children have been designing and making three-dimensional maps that link to a map in our story ‘My Place’. The children have even created objects for their maps in technology which Mrs Dunham will print using the 3D printer. We have been really impressed with the children’s maturity, creativity and ingenuity during this process. The map that the children are using as inspiration for their art is linked to a certain decade in our story ‘My Place’. A child tells the story of their life from that decade. We have used these children’s stories as inspiration to write scripts which will be created into short plays and presented to the rest of the stage in Week 10.
As part of English, we have been comparing episodes of the ‘My Place’ television series with pages from the book. The children have found a range of similarities and differences, as well as enjoyed seeing the stories they have read come to life. Stage 2 has also been writing information reports, learning how to engage their reader and communicate their information in an interesting manner. The children’s stories will be collated into a book called ‘My Life…’ which is inspired by our focus text ‘My Place’ by Nadia Wheatley. Please see underneath for all of the other amazing work the children have been completing.
Many students in Stage 2 have been preparing for New England Sings over the past few weeks. This week they have another Session up at the Old Teacher’s College and their last practise before the performance will be Thursday 29th October. The children are sounding beautiful, all thanks to Mrs Clendinning.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all families a relaxing and safe holiday, ready for the craziness of Term 4.
