Safety at School Crossing

SAFETY AT SCHOOL CROSSINGS
PLEASE DISMOUNT YOUR BIKE
School: Ocean Grove Primary School
Location: Presidents Avenue School Crossing
STOP – WALK YOUR BIKE AT THE CROSSING
To keep everyone safe, all students must get off their bicycles and walk them across any supervised school crossing.
This rule applies before and after school and is directed by the School Crossing Supervisor.
WHY DO I NEED TO WALK MY BIKE?
Walking your bike helps keep you and others safe because it:
- Helps the School Crossing Supervisor safely stop traffic - Keeps younger children safe when crossing - Reduces crashes between bikes and people - Gives drivers more time to see and stop - Makes everyone’s movements predictable and safe
IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE
- Riding through a school crossing is not allowed
- Always follow the School Crossing Supervisor’s directions
- Get off your bike and walk your bike across the road
During busy school times, riding a bike through the crossing can cause serious injuries.
A MESSAGE TO PARENTS & CARERS
Please talk with your child about the importance of:
- Dismounting and walking bikes at school crossings
- Following the instructions of School Crossing Supervisors
- Respecting road safety rules to protect the whole school community
Your support helps keep all children safe.
