Wellbeing
As the boys enjoyed a long weekend on Monday, our staff came together for the final Professional Learning Day of the year. The focus of the day was simple but significant: wellbeing.
As we move into the final weeks of Term 4 and approach the Christmas season, it is a timely reminder that wellbeing is important for everyone in our school community, including staff, students and parents. The end of the year is always rewarding, but it can also be busy and demanding. Taking time to care for ourselves and those around us is essential if we are to finish the year positively and strongly.
This week, our Trinity Junior School community has a wonderful opportunity to keep wellbeing and mental health front of mind through our Blue Round. As part of our JPSSA/PSA fixture against Christ Church, Trinity College was proud to support the Blue Tree Project, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness of mental health and encouraging meaningful conversations about wellbeing.
The Blue Tree Project carries a simple yet powerful message: it's OK not to be OK. By participating, our students are helping to break down the stigma that can sometimes surround mental health while learning the importance of kindness, empathy and reaching out for support when it is needed.
At Trinity, wellbeing is a vital part of our commitment to developing young men of character. Just as we encourage our boys to strive for excellence in the classroom, on the sporting field and in service to others, we also want them to understand the importance of maintaining balance, building positive relationships and caring for their mental health.
I encourage families to use this week as an opportunity to continue these conversations at home. By supporting one another, celebrating successes and regularly checking in on those around us, we help create a community where everyone feels valued, connected and supported.
Finally, I would like to thank all families who have supported this important initiative. Whether through your financial generosity or by engaging in meaningful conversations with your son, your support helps raise awareness of mental health and reinforces the message that seeking support and looking after your wellbeing are signs of strength.
God Bless,
Mr James McPherson

Year 4 Strings Concert
This week, our Year 4 students proudly showcased their learning at the annual Year 4 Strings Concert. For many of the boys, this marks their first year learning a string instrument, making the performance a wonderful celebration of their growth, perseverance and musical achievements.
Learning a musical instrument is about much more than developing performance skills. Research has shown that musical training can support children's cognitive development, including memory, attention, language development, and executive functioning skills.
We congratulate the boys on the commitment they have shown throughout the year and thank our families for the vital role they play in supporting the Strings program. Whether through encouraging regular practice at home, helping boys remember their instrument, strings book and home practice log, or assisting them to develop important organisational habits, your support significantly contributes to each student's success.
A special thank you must also go to our dedicated Strings tutors, whose expertise, patience and encouragement have helped foster a love of music while building the confidence and skills of our young musicians.
