First Reconciliation Family Faith Night
Last week, we gathered with families for our First Reconciliation Family Faith Night, exploring the beautiful theme “The Lord is Kind and Merciful.” The evening provided a wonderful opportunity for families to come together in prayer, deepen their understanding of God’s love and reflect on the importance of forgiveness in our lives. Through discussion and reflection, we explored how we experience love through our families and others, how we show love in return, and how we can continue to grow in our relationship with God, even when we make mistakes.
A highlight of the evening was exploring the Gospel parable of the Lost Sheep, reminding us that Jesus is our Good Shepherd who never stops searching for us and rejoices when we return to Him. This message lies at the heart of the Sacrament of Reconciliation: God’s mercy is always available to us, and through forgiveness, we can restore and strengthen our friendship with Jesus. Families also had the opportunity to learn more about the sacrament, discuss questions and consider how prayer, participation in Mass and reconciliation help us remain close to God.
A special thank you to Fr Jerome for sharing his wisdom, explaining the sacrament and answering the thoughtful questions raised by our families. His guidance helped our students better understand the role of the priest and the significance of this important sacrament in our Catholic faith. We are grateful to all the families who joined us and supported their children’s faith formation - and to Mrs McDonald and Mrs Mensen who have worked to prepare out students.
We look forward to accompanying our Year 3 students as they prepare to celebrate their First Reconciliation on 28 October, taking another meaningful step in their journey of faith and discovering the healing power of God’s love and mercy.
