Pathways News

Welcome back to 2026. The Careers team has moved into a larger space in B Block, welcoming new staff member Kerri Parkinson as our Pathways Inclusion Support Officer. The team also includes Kaye Barry (VET Coordinator), Lesa Allison (Careers Assistant), Katrina Coburn (Headstart Coordinator), Kelsey Bourke (Morrisby Enhanced) and Nicola Maher (Pathways Leader).

We have a busy Term 1 with lots of programs for our students.

Year 12: Small group career conversations during study sessions

Year 10: Introduction to Work Experience and Occupational Health and Safety

Year 9: Morrisby Online Assessment and Interviews

We also have the CFMEU conducting WHITE CARD TRAINING. It takes place at school on THURSDAY 12th MARCH and the cost is $90. The White card training qualification is for life and enables students to go out on work experience in construction areas like plumbing, landscaping, carpentry and electrical. Places are limited so if your child is interested could you please notify Lesa (Melesa) Allison.

We pass on relevant information to year levels through their TEAMS page as well as individual CHATS. Could you encourage your child to read their notifications as lots of wonderful opportunities are promoted on our TEAMS platform.

As many of our students are turning 15 years of age, we are strongly encouraging them to seek part-time work. It is a great opportunity to experience a workplace setting, learn new skills and explore other pathway options. Often the careers room receives notices from employers which we will place on TEAMS.

We look forward to working with your child in 2026.

Year 12 2025 Destinations

Our Year 12 cohort from 2025 achieved some outstanding outcomes with many securing apprenticeships, fulltime employment and offers to university and TAFE courses. Our VM students are actively engaged with employers from their School Based Apprenticeships which rolled into fulltime apprenticeships at the end of their studies. Ryan Guy is at 13th Beach Golf Course undertaking Turf Care Management and Ash Orr is continuing with her Childcare traineeship.

Of our VCE cohort, over 90% of students received an offer to university or TAFE. Deakin and RMIT were popular destinations with Engineering, Nursing and Forensics/Criminology attracting many students.

New areas of study this year included Pharmaceutical Science, Property and Real Estate and Logistics.

We wish our Year 12s all the best as they navigate their pathways through life.
