Principal's Report

Welcome Back! 

I trust and hope that all staff, students and our families have had a relaxing break over the holidays ready for the New Year and all of its possibilities. As the new Principal of Oberon High School, it has been a whirlwind getting introduced to everyone, trying to learn staff and student names, while having the opportunity to address a number of Year Level groups through the introductory assemblies that have taken place during the first week.

It has been a really positive beginning to the school year and the enthusiasm of staff and the students that I have been speaking to so far is a testament to the vibrant culture that exists at Oberon. There has been a steady stream of staff and students dropping by to introduce themselves and welcome me to the Oberon community. I have also had the pleasure of meeting our school Captains:

• Erin McGinness
• Akira Parkinson
• Beau Beal

I am certainly looking forward to working with our school captains, staff and students throughout the year ahead but also establishing strong relationships with our families and the local and wider community. 

In the coming days and weeks, I will be visiting as many classrooms as I can to really understand our teaching and learning program and where I can assist in supporting staff and students, but also in raising standards, expectations and performance. 

This term will also see many activities occurring across the school from the Swimming Carnival (February 16th), Athletics (March 3rd), Year 7 Camp (February 18-20) and the Meet the Parents Night (February 12th). Where possible, I encourage all families to come along to these events to meet our staff but also support our students and their endeavours in these whole school activities.
