School Photos Update

We have been advised that school photos are expected to arrive in approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, there has been a delay due to a high volume of orders across multiple schools. The school will notify families as soon as the photos arrive. They will be available for collection from the office for two days for any families who wish to pick them up directly. After this time, any remaining photos will be distributed to students via their mentor group teacher.

Western Heights Students Shine on the National Stage

Western Heights College is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of three students who recently competed at the 2026 Australian Junior Athletics Championships in Brisbane, held at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre.

In the lead-up to Nationals, Ethan Young competed in the Stawell Gift, where he delivered an exceptional performance. Competing in the U17 division, Ethan placed 3rd in his 100m heat off a 1.5 handicap and won his 400m heat off an 18m handicap, progressing through to his first final. At Nationals, Ethan showcased his strength in the Triple Jump, recording consistent efforts of 12.27m, 12.81m, and 12.71m. He finished an impressive 9th in Australia out of 15 competitors. This is a fantastic achievement and a strong indication of his continued development at the national level.

Isaac French demonstrated tremendous resilience and determination. Despite suffering an Achilles injury leading into the competition, Isaac chose to compete and showed great courage in doing so. He finished 15th in the U14 800m and 16th in the U14 1500m. His perseverance and commitment to his sport are to be commended.

Oliver Schouten-Durham enjoyed a highly successful championships, highlighted by a 3rd place finish in the U16 Heptathlon Final. He also placed 2nd in the U16 Javelin and finished a strong 6th in a very competitive 200m final, underlining his versatility as an all-round athlete.

We congratulate Ethan, Isaac and Oliver on representing yourselves and Western Heights College with pride and determination on the national stage. Their efforts, sportsmanship and commitment are a credit to themselves, their families and our school community.
