Specialist Subjects

OASIS 3MP & 3D - Matt Butcher
Students will differentiate between rocks and minerals, and explain that rocks are made up of one or more minerals. They will observe and classify different types of rocks based on their physical characteristics such as colour, texture, and grain size.
DigiTech 3BH & 3R - Cam Taylor
Students will develop foundational programming skills by exploring how computers use algorithms to follow instructions. They will build an understanding of core computational concepts such as sequencing, branching, input-output relationships and repetition.
Art – Lauren Nankervis
The Grade Three students will be using line and shape to create 3D images that explore light direction and shadowing. They will experiment with foreground, middle ground and background in their art works.
Music – Stacie Mason
Through the analysis of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, students will begin to learn about musical structures such as ternary form (ABA). They will listen to and create their own compositions that use the ternary form structure.
Students will also experience 3 meter songs (where the beat is divided into groups of 3), through dancing and body percussion. They will learn to play along to the 3 meter song, the Blue Danube.
Science – Emma Jensen
Students will learn continue to build upon their knowledge about Heat from Term 1. Our primary focus will be on how heat transfers through conduction, radiation and convention and how specific materials can act as a conductor or an insulator.
PE – Luke Freeman and Class Teachers
Students will begin the term by continuing to build on their aerobic fitness skills. They will then build on and refine their skills in the areas of catching, throwing, and bouncing. We will conclude our term by preparing for our school athletics sports early in Term 3.
