English

All classes will attend the Library on Mondays. Please ensure they have a library bag to keep these books safe. 

Reading 

We will be starting our term learning about Australia through our text, ‘Off We Go Around Australia’. We will be looking at the structure and common language features of an explanation text. We will also be revising what was covered last term through our Daily Reviews. The expectation is students read four nights a week, recording each night in their reading diary. Thank you to families for your support with this.  

Writing 

The students will be creating written and spoken texts to explain, inform and recount. They will learn to note take and develop these into topic specific paragraphs, where they will use grammar and punctuation appropriately. During handwriting sessions, the students will practice how to accurately form letters correctly with consistent sizing and directionality. 

Spelling

The students will continue to work through our Spell Ex program, learning that words are made up of meaningful parts. They will apply knowledge of common base words, prefixes, suffixes and how to spell most high-frequency words including some homophones.
