Hello Junior School Families!
We have had a fabulous start to Term 2, and it has been wonderful to see students return to school settled, happy and ready for learning. The transition into the term has been smooth, with students quickly re-establishing routines and demonstrating a positive attitude in the classroom.
The Junior School is Blooming with Respect
Across the school, we are currently focusing on Respect as part of our HEART values. Each student received a respect wristband as a reminder of the importance of showing respect every day. In classrooms, we are having daily discussions about what respect looks like and how we need to show respect to ourselves, our friends, our teachers and our school. Students also created ‘respect flowers’ as a visual reminder of the many ways we can demonstrate respect to others.
Amazing Animals
In Integrated Studies, we have launched our new unit, Amazing Animals. Students have already been highly engaged, exploring different animals and showing their creativity by constructing their own monkeys, lions and frogs. It has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm and imagination come to life through these hands-on learning experiences.
We also loved seeing so many families attend our Mother’s Day Breakfast Club. It was wonderful to share this special time with students and the important females in their lives, celebrating the care and support they provide.
We are looking forward to an exciting and productive term ahead.

What we are learning this term in Specialist
Physical Education
Junior School
Students in the Junior School have PE on Tuesdays so please wear runners. This term we will be focusing on the fundamental motor skills of catching, throwing and kicking. Students will practise good sportsmanship, fair play and following rules in warm-up and minor games.
Visual Arts
Foundation
This term students will be creating sea creature art through painting and collage. They will practise painting with watercolours and acrylics and learn to hold, use and clean a paintbrush. Students will also continue to develop their cutting skills and learn about different glues when making a collage.
Please ensure your child has an art smock to protect their school uniform, as this term is going to be messy in the Art Room!
Year 1/2
Students in 1/2 will further develop their painting and collage skills this term. They will experiment with crayon resists and salt with watercolours to create water backgrounds and will explore texture when painting with acrylics. Students will also continue to develop their drawing and cutting skills and learn about different glues when making a collage.
Please ensure your child has an art smock to protect their school uniform, as this term is going to be messy in the Art Room!
Cultural Studies
This term, students will explore Schools Around the World, starting with France and other countries, to discover how school routines, play times, rules and classrooms can be similar to - or very different from - life in Australia. Through stories, short videos and hands-on activities, they will compare school experiences and build curiosity and respect for different cultures.
Performing Arts
In Performing Arts this term, students will rehearse ensemble music in preparation for performance, developing their ability to listen carefully, keep a steady beat, and perform confidently with others. They will continue building their skills on classroom instruments through melody and rhythm activities while strengthening timing and coordination in group music-making. Students will also rehearse dance sequences, including Line Dancing, where they will practise following movement patterns, moving in time with music, and performing with spatial awareness and control.
Science
This term in Science, students will focus on Chemical Science. We will investigate the observable properties of materials. We will explore how materials can be combined in different ways for specific purposes. We will create mixtures and examine whether they have the same or different properties to the original materials.

Try this brain teaser with your family. How many squares are there in this picture?
ANZAC biscuits
For ANZAC Day, our F-2 students had a wonderful hands-on experience baking traditional ANZAC biscuits. They followed a simple recipe and worked together to carefully measure, add and mix the ingredients. They really enjoyed every step of the process, especially the delicious smells and eating their biscuits.
The students then decorated their own special poppy-themed bags to take their biscuits home in, proudly connecting their baking to the importance and spirit of ANZAC Day.
A love of learning!
At our wonderful school, you will see games, hands-on activities and lots of movement, all designed to make learning fun, meaningful, and engaging.
Amazing Animals!
As part of our Integrated Studies unit on Amazing Animals, we have been exploring different ways to construct animals using a variety of craft materials. So far, we have made slimy cellophane frogs with curly red tongues, concertina monkeys and lions with fringed manes.
Mother's Day Breakfast Club
Our school was buzzing with smiles as we celebrated our wonderful mums and special loved ones at our Mother’s Day Breakfast! It was such a lovely way to start the day together. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning so special.
