Weekly Values Focus - Responsibility

Week 8: Footscray West students are honest and have integrity.

At our school, being honest and having integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. We show responsibility by telling the truth, taking ownership of our actions, and making choices that reflect our School Values. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, and being honest about what happened helps us fix problems, learn from our choices, and move forward.

We can show honesty by telling the truth, even when it might be difficult or we are worried about getting into trouble. We show integrity by owning our mistakes rather than blaming someone else, respecting other people’s belongings, and leaving things that do not belong to us alone. We can also make responsible choices when an adult is not there to remind us, such as picking up a piece of rubbish, returning something we have found, or helping someone without being asked.

This week, look for opportunities to show honesty and integrity. Could you tell the truth when something goes wrong? Could you admit when you have made a mistake and think about how you can make it right? Could you make a positive choice when no one is watching? Small, responsible choices like these show who we are and help make Footscray West a safe, fair, and welcoming place for everyone.
