Sustainability
We're talking - re-use, recycle & WELCOME SPRING 🌻
We have had a term full of re-using our items and incorporating recycled resources into beautiful activities and experiences with the children including Jane's homemade puppet theatre, Nai's beautiful recycled parking garage and Forest rooms wonderful quilt made from recycled materials. Sun room had music wall installed by company Junkyard beats created entirely out of reused and recycled products.
And finally ... we welcome SPRING, if you look around Haven, you will see our beautiful trees are starting to blossom, our potted flowers are beginning to appear and we are seeing some colour in our garden. There are exciting things to come with our front garden getting a lovely summer revamp soon for term 4.
RAP
River room have been adding to their AIATSIS map with the song "I am Australian" performed in Yawuru language, that they sing at their grouptimes with tapping sticks. They also introduced the book "In the bush i see" by Kiara Honeychurch, Wunna Nyiyaparli woman.
Sun Room used Warraworrap (Wattle Tree) as inspiration to create their own still-life paintings for R U OK Day and the beginning of Spring. As they painted they discussed connection to the land, and importance of the warraworrap to the Bunurong people as a seasonal marker.
Field Room will be creating a recycled Barroworn (magpie) portrait to celebrate the Wurundjeri season of Poorneet and Boonwurrung season of Pareip (true spring) as the magpie becomes very active protecting it's young. They have begun collecting their resources we can't wait to see what they create in celebration of these seasons.
