Lightning Premiership Sports Report ⚡

Year 6 Netball

Last Friday 26 July, the Year 6 NPS Netball Team participated in the Lightning Premiership competitions held in Yarrawonga. The day started on a high as we won our first game. Each quarter was seven minutes long, which didn’t give teams as much time to score goals as we normally have and this created a challenge for all of us. We won three games throughout the day and lost three – a fantastic achievement as the competition was fierce! Our team players were Harper, Myllah, Eloise, Mackenzie, Indy, Sieanna, Stevie, Dayeisha, Larna and Emily.

At the of the day when they announced the score, we ended up in the top three, THIRD PLACE! We were so proud of ourselves!

Year 5 Netball

The NPS Year 5 Netball Team played games against Katunga, Strathmerton, St. Joseph’s Numurkah and Sacred Heart. Some of the highlights from our Lightning Premiership included:

  • In the first game we played Katunga, and Mia and Ella scored heaps of goals for our team and Harmony and Sophia’s intercepts were legendary!
  • Our second game was against St. Joseph’s and this was a real challenge; they kept possession of the ball most of the game but we did get a few good intercepts.
  • In the third game we played Sacred Heart and we won 5-0 our way; our girls got in front of their players and showed excellent teamwork.
  • In our final game, we versed Strathmerton and even though we lost this game, overall for the day Numurkah PS came third in the Lightning Premiership Netball Competition!

We can’t wait to participate in the LP again next year!

Football

On 26 July, we participated in the Lightning Premiership in Yarrawonga. The highlight of our day was playing against St. Joseph’s Numurkah. The first half was a decent start with Levi scoring a goal for our team, but we were down by three at the end of the half. The halftime siren blew and we headed off the field to plan a strong comeback in the second half. We had a strong back line with our best players so the ball wouldn’t get into the back 50, but St. Joe’s didn’t let that stop them from kicking goal after goal – they played really well. We picked up our game and blocked many goals in the last part of the match. In the end, the score was 42-6 their way – they had a win that was well deserved, and we walked away with memories that will never leave us. Good game St. Joe’s!

Softball

NPS Softballers started off by competing against St. Joseph’s Cobram. Cobram was new to softball, so the game was fairly easy for us to win. Our second game was against Katamatite; we all played fairly with one player accidently knocking the Katamatite catcher off their feet! The scores were 15 -13 our way.  The third and last game was against Tungamah; this was a great game. Ajay got his first ever home run which was fantastic to watch!

We all had so much fun, and felt the games were played well.
