Dear Parents and Carers,
This term our students have continued to build on their social and communication skills through a range of engaging programs and experiences across the Secondary Sub-School.
The Year 12 Graduation is on Friday 5th December at the Meadows. Tickets can be purchased via QKR and at the office. Looking forward to celebrating with you!
In this week’s I CAN session, students explored communication and presentation skills to build confidence when speaking in front of others. Through fun games and group discussions, they identified strategies to feel more comfortable presenting and began planning topics for their future I CAN Talks. It was great to see students supporting one another and celebrating their progress.
Students from two classrooms also enjoyed a Bounce excursion, where they worked on teamwork, turn-taking, and social communication skills—all while having fun together.
Our Adventure Clubs, run by our Mental Health Practitioner- Stacie and Social Worker- Jen continue to provide opportunities for students to connect and collaborate. This term they are focusing on working as a team to solve common goals, communicating wants and needs, and supporting each other through wins and losses. They recently tackled “The Mystery of The Founders’ Hidden Treasure” at Camp JSA, working together to solve puzzles and uncover the final treasure. They have also been creating and refining characters for their next tabletop RPG adventure, with experienced members guiding new ones. A short survey will gather student feedback to help shape next year’s club activities.
We are proud of how our students are growing in confidence, connection, and communication, skills that will support them both at school and beyond.
ROOM 26
Room 26 have had an exciting and rewarding term, taking part in basketball, Canine Comprehension, and creative art sessions. We are especially proud of our four Year 12 students who are graduating from JSA this year. We wish them every success in their future pathways and thank them for the wonderful memories and contributions they have made throughout their time with us.
