Middle Sub School News

Amelia Frantz
Middle Sub School Leader
Dear families and carers,
In Weeks 5 and 6 students have been hard at work in all areas. Halloween trick or treating on 31 October was very engaging and students enjoyed dressing up and collecting lollies with their Halloween buckets. Exciting birthday celebrations have occurred. These are a great opportunity to practice social skills in a fun and engaging way. Music has been lots of fun with the use of music keyboards you can walk on.
The introduction of the love literacy online resources has given students even more opportunities to learn and practice their literacy skills. Our Personal and Social Puberty lessons have continued to be well received by students.
A note on the weather. The past couple of weeks have had some wet and raining days. At times, we have the wet or hot day timetable meaning students play indoors. Students are offered movement breaks inside and in undercover areas. We have also had some warm and sunny days and encourage students to remove jumpers and wear sunscreen and hats. Please continue to provide spare clothing in your child's bag including a hat, socks and underwear. If you need any support with clothing, please reach out.
Important dates
- SSGs occur from 10-28 November excluding Fridays
- Inflatable course incursion Friday 28 November
- Year 6 Graduation 11 December in the Yaluk gym
Enjoy the weekend,
Amelia
ROOM 17
Students and staff in room 17 have been enjoying a very busy Term 4. The first week of school saw students take part in the Colour Run, where students enjoyed experimenting with colours, textures and different sensations. In addition, students have also enjoyed participating in other special events including the Brainstorm production, Cyber Safety and Halloween celebrations. Students have shown an excellent ability to adapt to changes in their routine and have demonstrated great bravery by trying new things and putting themselves out there.
In Week 5, students participated in the whole school evacuation drill, this is a very important and significant event in the school, as it tests learners in many ways. Students showed remarkable resilience and adaptability throughout the event. Students are to be congratulated for their efforts in looking after themselves and others, through active listening, cooperation with peers and teachers as well as accountability for their actions. Well done Room 17.
