Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 1, Week 7

Good morning, Parents/Carers,

Behaviour Focus

Our behaviour focus for Week 7 is again Safe,

We are learning to:

  • Keep our hands and feet to ourselves

  • Stay out of personal space! (The bubble rule)

We are successful when:

  • We keep our "hands off"

  • We don't push each other

  • We don't kick each other

  • We respect personal space

Attendance Matters

Congratulations to the 24 students who have 100% attendance in Term 1 so far.  What an amazing effort.  Welcome to our 100% club.  We also have 36 students who are attending school 95% and above. Also, a big congratulations to K/1B for being the highest attended class with 95.8%. 2/3O and 4/5/6T are not far behind on 87% and 83% respectively.  Attendance Matters.  If your child is absent for any reason, please contact the school office on the day of absence to advise or via the text message that comes through to you.  It is important for all students to be at school.  Did you know that missing one day per fortnight equates to 4 weeks per year and 1 year over their school life.

Turn Up Awards

We will again be running the Turn Up Awards this year.  The "Turn Up" award was introduced last year to encourage our students to attend school every day.  Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a paddle pop voucher.  A voucher will be issued each week to each class.  If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries.  If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries. Congratulations to our winners for Week 5:

K/1B -     Dustin

Colour Run

We will be holding our Colour Run this Friday, 13th March from 10am.  The P&C will be providing a sausage sizzle and popper for $5 that can be purchased on the day.    All students need to bring white or old light coloured clothing.  Your child will get wet, and clothes will get stained.  Please ensure your child has their school uniform and underclothes to change into on completion of the colour run together with a plastic bag to put dirty wet clothes in.  We welcome family and friends to come along and cheer on our students however, participation in the event is for students of Werris Creek Public School only.  Siblings will not be able to participate. It is not too late to register for your fundraising account.  Information to register has been sent home.  Fundraising is now open and will conclude on the day of the Colour Run. Check out below the amazing prizes to be won just by fundraising.  If you did not receive information to register, please contact our school office for details.  This event is always a success and a lot of fun. We look forward to holding it again this year.

Harmony Day

Harmony Day is a day to celebrate Australian multiculturalism. Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. Held every year on 21 March. We will be observing Harmony Day on Wednesday, 18th March this year with classroom activities, and we ask all students to wear orange on the day.

Parent/Carer Survey

In Term 2, we are inviting parents and carers to participate in the NSW Public Schools Parent Survey.  The survey gives you the opportunity to share your experience at our school, including communication, inclusion, wellbeing and how your child's learning is supported.

Hearing directly from our parents and carers will help us understand what's working well and where improvements can be made. Participation in the survey is optional, your responses are anonymous, and it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete.  The survey is available in Term 2 and when the link goes live, we will share it with you.

Kind regards
