Whats Happening in the Kitchen and Garden for 2026?

WELCOME TO THE PROGRAM OUR YEAR 5 AND 3 STUDENTS !!

Garden

We welcome the year 3s and 5s to the garden this term!! We are super excited to have the year 3s join us as it is their first time in the program!!

This fortnight we are learning what's growing in the garden and going on a taste sension wonder. The year 3's were delighted and surprised by some weird and wacky things you can eat while walking through the garden. They learnt that not only does fennel taste delicious, it is also helpful to sooth a sore tummy. Mint is helpful when you forget to brush your teeth and calendula can be infused in oil to help treat skin conditions.

Year 5 jumped straight back into gardening and cleaned up the chicken coop, weeded, raked and turned compost bins.

If you would like to see how awesome your child is in garden, we would love you to come along and help out. You don't have to be a gardening expert either. Just come along and have a fun time with your child in the garden.

KITCHEN

What an exciting start to Semester 2 in the kitchen!  Our theme for this fortnight is FUNdamentals, learning (or remembering for the returning Grade 5s) the routines and expectations in the kitchen that allow our time in the kitchen to be safe, productive and of course FUN!

In celebration of Indonesian week, we cooked up an Indonesian feast!  Our menu was quite ambitious with many different fresh ingredients to learn and a lot chopping involved, and our brand new to the kitchen Year 3 students couldn't have impressed us more!  By lunchtime we had students sticking their heads into the kitchen asking what smelt so good!  The pandan flavoured pancakes are always a favourite but the Mie Goreng was gobbled up just as quickly!  We'd love to hear from you if you try any of the recipes below at home.

As always we love for you to come and join us in the kitchen to see (and taste!) just what the students are capable of.  Just sign in at the office and come on down to the kitchen - we'll have an apron waiting for you!
