Army Careers Day at Puckapunyal 2026

Interested students from Years 10-12 recently attended the annual Army Careers Day at the Puckapunyal Military Area in Victoria, joining approximately 1,000 secondary school students from across Victoria and southern New South Wales to explore career opportunities within the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

Throughout the day, students viewed impressive displays of armour, artillery, transport and infantry equipment, while also getting up close to a range of military vehicles and technology. A highlight of the event was the opportunity to speak directly with serving ADF members and Australian Public Service personnel, gaining valuable insights into military life, workplace culture, and the diverse roles available within Defence.

Students learned about more than 300 career pathways, including full-time and part-time positions, Gap Year programs, the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), STEM careers, and Defence University Sponsorship opportunities. Information gained also covered entry pathways, salaries, benefits and the wide range of opportunities available across the Army and the broader Defence community.

The day provided an excellent opportunity for students to explore future career options, ask questions, and hear first-hand accounts from Defence personnel about their experiences and career journeys.

The ADF also provided a delicious hot lunch for attendees, while the Australian Army Band entertained students throughout the day, contributing to an enjoyable and memorable experience for all.
