Working Bee

A huge thank you to the many families who gave up their Sunday to help bring our school grounds back to an A1 standard! Jobs, big and small, were completed with teamwork and enthusiasm. From moving soft-fall into the playgrounds, sand into the sandpits, and topsoil into the garden beds, to many other tasks that made a real difference. By the end of the day, our school looked fantastic and the students were rewarded with an icy pole to celebrate what turned out to be a marvellous day, weatherwise. Looking ahead, there is much to be excited about within our Buildings and Grounds Committee, with projects including new play equipment, painting, and garden rejuvenation on the horizon. This is where we would love your involvement.
Garden Rejuvenation Committee: Expressions of Interest
We are seeking expressions of interest from parents and carers to join our action group to participate in the rejuvenation of Solway’s garden beds.
Some upcoming ideas include:
Rebuilding, planting and fencing the garden beds throughout the Nature Corridor
Solving the problem of erosion at the bottom of the oval.
Installing a Fairy Garden in the Prep playground
Planting and maintaining the Kitchen Garden
Completing the garden bed adjacent to the shipping container
Installing a GaGa Ball pit!
Plus many more . . .
If you can help in any way possible —whether by lending your time, skills, or expertise — please email me at thomas.chapman@education.vic.gov.au or drop by the front office and leave your details with Karen O’Neill. Together, we can make Solway’s grounds a space our students and community can be proud of.
