Whole School Routines and Procedures
At the end of last term, staff worked together to establish and refine our whole school routines and procedures. These cover important parts of the school day, such as lining up, entering and exiting classrooms, using lockers, and responding to attention signals.
By teaching and consistently reinforcing these routines, we ensure that all students know what is expected of them across different settings. This consistency provides a calm, predictable environment that allows students to focus more on their learning and wellbeing.
Our shared approach also supports transitions between spaces, reduces confusion, and helps build positive habits across the whole school. Parents can support this by talking with their children about the importance of following routines at school and celebrating when they demonstrate these skills.
R U OK? Day
Next week, Solway Primary School will be taking part in R U OK? Day, a national day of action that reminds us all to check in with the people around us and start meaningful conversations. This important initiative helps students learn the power of kindness, connection, and looking out for one another.
As R U OK? Day falls on the same day as our Cultural Day, each class will be participating in R U OK?-themed activities during the week in their regular classroom time.
Students across all year levels will explore what it means to be a good friend, how to support others, and how to ask for help when something doesn’t feel right, both in person and online. We’ll also be incorporating age-appropriate videos, stories, and discussion prompts to help students reflect on their own wellbeing and how they can support others.
We look forward to sharing some of the wonderful conversations and learning that take place as we continue building a caring, connected school community.
