Principal's Update

Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you and your families healthy and well. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in illnesses across the school, no doubt due to the seasonal change as winter sets in. Unfortunately, this has also affected a number of our staff. We kindly ask families to take all necessary precautions – please keep your child home to rest and recover if they are unwell, and continue to encourage good hygiene habits at home and at school. Working together, we can help keep our community as safe and healthy as possible.

It has been a joy to continue welcoming new Prep families as part of our enrolment process for 2026. These meetings are always a privilege, offering a glimpse into the beginning of the school journey for many families. It has been heartening to hear how many parents have chosen St Margaret’s not only for our strong academic results, but also for the warm community spirit, the respectful behaviour of our students, and the quality of student leadership on display each day. This is something we should all feel very proud of. I would like to remind families with children starting school in 2026 to ensure they have submitted their enrolment application. Offers will be sent out next week, and with strong demand, we want to make sure no one misses out on the opportunity to join our school.

One of the standout moments in recent weeks was our Athletics Carnival, held last Thursday. We were blessed with beautiful weather and the event was superbly organised by our dedicated PE teacher, Mr Hogan. The joy on the students’ faces as they participated and gave their best effort was wonderful to see. Thank you to all the families who turned out to support the day — your presence and enthusiasm made it even more special. I’ve included some photos that capture the energy and excitement beautifully.

As we look ahead, we ask that you continue to keep our Year 6 students in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday 21 June. The coming weeks will include a number of reflective and faith-filled activities as they ready themselves for this important milestone.

One of the great blessings of my role is being able to celebrate the achievements of our students, both within and beyond the classroom. It’s not unusual for a student to knock on my door to share a piece of excellent writing or news of something they’re proud of — and this week has been no different. Congratulations to River in Prep B for some wonderful writing, Leonardo in Year 5 who is making great strides in Go Kart racing (a future Oscar Piastri perhaps!), and Daniel in Year 6 who celebrated his 50th football game last weekend. Thank you to each of these students for sharing their successes with me – you are an inspiration to us all!

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and partnership in the learning journey of your children.

God bless,
