National Reconciliation Week – Bridging Now to Next

This week, our school community came together to acknowledge and participate in National Reconciliation Week under the 2025 theme: Bridging Now to Next. Students engaged in a variety of learning experiences that encouraged reflection on Australia’s shared history and the journey toward reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through storytelling, art, discussion, and respectful listening, students explored how their actions today can help build a more just, inclusive, and united future.

2025 Lexus Melbourne Cup Launch

We were a part of the lucky few that went to the Melbourne Cup Tour Launch and here's what we did. When we arrived at school everyone was so excited and looking their best! Then we boarded the colourful bus. We were greeted at Flemington Racecourse by two members of Racing Victoria. We saw statues of famous horses and Ms Oxley told us about the horse named Big Red. After that we went to the members cafe to get changed into fashionable silks and put on some Lexus caps.

Once we were ready the members led us to the rehearsal where we held a miniature Melbourne Cup up with a number at the bottom. That number was assigned to a place where the cup would be visiting. Then the main event was here, our hearts were pounding and it was so nerve racking.

The expectations were high but Tony was camera ready. He made jokes and never seemed to be nervous. Then Robby sang 'It's a Beautiful Day’; no wonder he was on the voice! Then it was our turn in front of the cameras. We all did a fantastic job, smiling at the TV cameras and getting our photo taken with the Melbourne Cup.

When we finished we got to keep the Lexus caps. The staff surprised us with a high quality meal. We could get a chicken mayonnaise sandwich, an apple and a blueberry muffin or a ham and cheese sandwich, apple and an apple and cinnamon muffin. Then it was back to reality at school for another three sessions of work.
