Week 7 Greeting

I hope you are all well as we head into the final weeks of term. Over the past fortnight, our students have successfully completed their two-week swimming program, and we could not be prouder of their efforts. This program focused not only on building swimming confidence and technique but also on essential water-safety skills. Students learned how to keep themselves safe, recognise when others may be in trouble, and how to seek help appropriately, vital knowledge for all Australians, especially as our beautiful country is surrounded by water and many of us love spending time at beaches, rivers, and pools. A heartfelt thank you goes to all of our parent volunteers who supported the program. Your time, encouragement, and willingness to assist helped make these sessions smooth, enjoyable, and safe for everyone involved.

2026 Class Composition

We are currently in the process of developing class structures for 2026. As many families know, this is a thoughtful and collaborative process that aims to set each child up for a successful year ahead. With a growing number of parent requests, along with our commitment to creating well-balanced classes that consider academic needs as well as the social and emotional capabilities of our students, the task has become increasingly complex. Please be assured that our leadership team and teaching staff are working carefully to consider student needs, learning styles, social dynamics, and wellbeing. While we may not be able to accommodate every request, our priority remains creating balanced, supportive and engaging learning environments for all students. Can we also ask those parents who are planning to leave CPS at the end of this year to inform our office as soon as possible? Your support is much appreciated.

Snapshot from our classroom

Last week, our Year 5/6 students enjoyed a lively and engaging video conference with our Sister School, Nakagawa Elementary School, in Japan. In preparation, our students created a fun quiz in Japanese about Australian animals and posed the questions to their friends overseas. The joy and excitement were obvious as our students asked their questions in Japanese, and their Japanese peers responded in English! It was a wonderful opportunity for both groups to practise the languages they are learning in an authentic and meaningful way.

A particularly special moment came when some of our students who visited Japan on last year’s trip recognised the classroom on screen—they were thrilled to reconnect and see a familiar space again. A huge thank you to Klein Sensei for organising this experience and continually providing rich language-learning opportunities for our students.
