House Swimming Carnival

Important information

Our House Swimming carnival is on Friday 16 February at the Camperdown pool. As it is a school day, all students are required to attend the event. We encourage students and staff to participate in this wonderful day of community celebration by dressing up in House colours and joining in various fun activities to accumulate House points for the Spirit Cup.

The list of swimmers will go up on Tuesday 13 February in the College Canteen. House meetings are scheduled on Tuesday in the last 30 minutes of Lesson 5.

MacKillop will be meeting be in the Jubilee Centre foyer

Glowery will be meeting in the Mercy foyer

McAuley will be meeting in the Tuck wing

Rice will be meeting in the hall

If students are not on the list to swim but would like to fill in on the day they need to speak to their House Captains at Tuesday’s meeting. We will be doing walk-throughs throughout the day so everyone will be given the opportunity to get into the water and earn points for their House.

Dressing up

It would be great to see everyone dressed up and supporting their House. If students do not want to dress up then they are required to wear their sports uniform on Friday.

Please remember that paint, zinc, crepe paper, or anything that stains water is not allowed. Also, water pistols are not welcome and will be confiscated.

At the Carnival

House Sports are all about participation so it’s really important that students support their House and House Captains. It doesn’t matter if they are not the best swimmer; it’s all about having a go and being a team player, and every effort contributes to the final score towards the coveted shield.

Please be aware that the Freestyle races are heats. What this means is that the fastest swimmer out of all three heats for the age group will go through to the Coastal Swimming Carnival. So, a student can be in Heat 3 and still go through!

Food

There will be a barbecue available on the day to purchase sausages or hamburgers and also Zooper Doopers for sale. If students do not want to buy lunch they will need to bring their own food, snacks and drinks. If the Canteen is open, drinks and snacks can be purchased.

If you have any questions, please message Mrs Hawker.
