Education Week

Next week is Education Week at Plenty Parklands. There are a number of exciting learning opportunities that have been shared via Compass. One of these is our numeracy dice challenge, which is a competition that pitch students against their classmates and their year level peers until we find a maths champion from each age group across the school.

Upcoming Strike Action

In my last newsletter I promised to update you on the planned strike action scheduled for the morning of Tuesday 19th May. At the time of publication, I have not received any official information about the likelihood of it going ahead. I will share any updates via Compass as soon as I hear more.

Skinner Dance Sessions

Our David Skinner Dance sessions are in full

swing, with students and staff enjoying the energy and activity involved. Please keep the date of our final session on Friday 5th June free, as parents are invited to join their children to celebrate the culmination of the program.

Misplaced Uniforms

With the increased cost of living, we are doing our best at Plenty Parklands to ensure that any misplaced clothing items find their way back to your children.  I have been going through the lost property basket more frequently in an attempt to match lost items with their owners. To assist in this process, can you please ensure that your child’s clothing is labelled with their full name on the tag of each item.

Creative Minds

Our Crea8ive Minds extension program that runs every Thursday in Term 2 has been well attended and is another example of the programs we offer here to cater for a range of student needs. If you missed out on enrolling your child in this program, it will return in Term 4 of 2026.

Hands on Learning

It was fantastic this week to see our Year 4 cohort of students highly engaged in their egg drop science experiment. Students designed devices to protect their egg when it was dropped from the roof by one of our Year 4 teachers. This sort of hands-on science learning in classrooms compliments the great work done by Mr. Scott Jessup in our science specialist subject that is currently offered to our Year 3 to Year 6 students.

Early Pick Up

We endeavour to maximise the learning opportunities for each of the students that attend our school. One way that families can support us is to minimise occasions when your child is not at school. Obviously, there are times when children are sick or have important appointments that they need to attend, however can I ask that you please do your best to restrict early pickups to only those that are really necessary. We have seen a rise in students leaving early in the last couple of weeks. Thank you to those parents that email teachers in the morning when their child needs to leave early. This communication means there are less disruptions to learning and to our office staff, and ensures your children are ready at the office at the requested time.

Have a great weekend,
