Principal's Report
"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." - Benjamin Franklin
Our incredible team is dedicated to providing our students with the best possible learning experiences. Over the past fortnight, our school has hosted numerous enriching activities, celebrated achievements and facilitated immersive learning experiences, some of which you can read about in this week's newsletter.
Applying new learning offers students the opportunity to actively engage with their learning environment, fostering deeper understanding, critical thinking skills and practical knowledge application. Through hands-on experiences, students become active participants in their own learning process.
Research consistently shows that rich and engaging learning experiences have a profound impact on student achievement and retention. By engaging multiple senses and learning styles, these experiences help solidify concepts and improve long-term memory retention.
Furthermore, hands-on learning promotes collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills. As students work together to tackle real-world challenges, they develop essential interpersonal skills that are crucial for success in both academic and professional settings.
I am looking forward to meeting with prospective Year 7 2025 families this evening and sharing student experiences as part of the Beaumaris Way. You may have seen the following video on Facebook and/or Instagram, highlighting why our staff love working at Beaumaris.
Year 12 Jumpers
It was an exciting day on Monday for the Class of 2024, who received their Year 12 jumpers. Despite the warm weather, the students proudly donned their jumpers, marking a milestone achievement in their academic journey. These jumpers symbolise the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and camaraderie among our senior cohort. Check out the Year 12 Jumpers page of this newsletter which includes photos and videos of all the action.
NAPLAN & PAT Testing
NAPLAN testing for our Year 7 and 9 students is now complete, and students in Year 7-10 have completed an online adaptive reading comprehension and maths assessment known as the Progressive Achievement Test (PAT). The PAT assessments provide valuable insights to tailor our educational programs and support individual student needs.
Thank you to Deb Kirk and the team for their outstanding work, contributing to the success of these testing periods.
Celebrating Our Kingston Division Swimming Champions
Our school's swimming team has emerged victorious as the Kingston Division Swimming Champions! Their hard work and commitment have truly paid off, and we couldn't be prouder of their achievement. There are more photos on the Sports News page of this newsletter.
Alumnus on Stage
I had the pleasure, along with other staff members, of witnessing our talented alumnus, Joel K, in his debut musical 'The Sound of Music', recently. I look forward to following the journeys of all of our alumni, who will forever be a part of our community.
Community Involvement
While our recent social gatherings were unfortunately cancelled, our Parents' Association will be actively seeking feedback through a survey to better cater to the preferences and interests of our parent and carer community. I would like to encourage all parents to join our next meeting to find out more about how to stay connected.
Staffing Update
We're thrilled to welcome Tara Coates to our Wellbeing Team on a full-time basis. With her extensive experience as a Social Worker, Tara will further enhance our efforts in supporting the community.
2024 Student-free Days & Early Dismissal
As we approach the end of Term 1, please note that students will be dismissed at 2:00pm next Thursday (28 March).
Term 2 will commence with a Curriculum Day on Monday 15 April, followed by ONLINE Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday 16 April. These are both student-free days.
I extend my warmest wishes to everyone for a safe and restful holiday period. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community.
