Year 1 Phonics Screener
We have received confirmation from CSNSW that the assessment window for Year 1 students across all schools will be from Monday, 10 August 2026 to Friday, 28 August 2026. (Term 3, Weeks 4–6). The DET will shortly release updated advice for the 2026 assessment and will be shared early Term 3. Year 1 Teachers and LoPs: in preparation could you please check that you can access the CSNSW net id page and have access to the ALAN platform that would be greatly appreciated. Newton Navigators
The Newton Navigators program is a virtual classroom designed specifically for talented mathematics students in Year 5 and 6 students across Armidale Catholic Schools. Students were identified using a range of assessment criteria and have participated in weekly classes in Term 2. This term students have covered the topics of estimation and number operations using large numbers, polyhedra and Euler’s formula, divisibility and finally concluding with bringing these concepts together in long form problem solving.
GTPA Info Session
The ECT coach team hosted a one hour information session in Week 8 (via Google meet or in person) for our Conditional ECT Teachers on the GTPA final assessment (Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment)
This excellent session was presented by two recent graduates Abbey McCloskey (SNT) and Isaac Post (MCC) who shared their firsthand experiences of completing the GTPA.
Feedback on the session was very positive with participants very grateful for the advice and tips offered by Abbey and Isaac.
Shared Beliefs and Understanding Professional Development Day for ECTs
ECTs SAVE THE DATE - Term 3 Week 6, Tuesday 25th August.
The ECT Coach Team with the support of the Mission and Learning Team members are again facilitating the Shared Beliefs and Understanding Professional Development Day for all early-career teachers in Armidale at the Armidale Catholic Schools Office, Term 3 Week 6, Tuesday 25th August.
This day will focus on the System’s Non-negotiables and target areas specifically to the needs of our ECTs. The day’s structure will involve whole-group presentations as well as several small-group workshops that will rotate each session.
