Volunteering at CGPS

Come along to our Volunteer Induction session Thursday 6th August from 2:30–3:15 pm
We would love your support with volunteering at our school. There are a variety of opportunities available, with flexible options to suit different schedules — whether you are able to help occasionally or more regularly. We have just started having some of our volunteers supporting with reading in the classroom and would love some more of our families in the classrooms helping out. We also have our Year 3's heading off to camp this term and require some helpers, so please consider coming along.
If you are interested in volunteering, please come to the school office on Thursday 6th August just before 2:30pm to attend our Volunteer Induction Session.
This induction session is required for all volunteers to ensure everyone is up to date with the latest Child Safety Standards before assisting in the school. If you have already attended a session there is no need for you to come again.
Volunteer Classroom Reading Support
It's been fantastic to see our volunteers supporting students with their reading this term. The feedback from teachers has been incredibly positive, and we'd love to invite more parents and carers to join our wonderful team of volunteers.
Volunteers support students by reading with them for up to 30 minutes in the morning. Which means only a few of minutes per child. You'll help encourage and support students as they practise their reading skills. The video below demonstrates a parent reading a decodable book with a child and walks you through each step of the process. The same process you would have with your child at home, is exactly how you would support other students at home. Everyone can do it!
If you’d like to get involved, please email Rachel rachel.cross@education.vic.gov.au.
