Devotion

Term 4 is a very exciting term in the life of a school and what better way to show this excitement than with today’s Loud Shirt Day! The Bible often calls on us to be loud as well, not to earn God’s favour, but to celebrate with joy the blessings we have from our God who loves us.

Psalm 95:1 encourages us to “Make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation”. As we think about the God who created us and loves us so much that he gave His son for us, we have so much to thank Him for and to be joyful in. Expressing joy as an adult can sometimes feel uncomfortable or embarrassing and so we often don’t let others see our joy or the reasons for it.

Working in a school, it is really visible how carefree and willing to express their joy children often are: whether it’s welcoming a friend after the holidays, excitedly exploring a new playground, wearing a colourful shirt with pride or singing joyfully. As we look ahead to Term 4, may we express joy in the same way as our children.

I pray that you can loudly embrace joy and share it with friends, family and all around you as we enjoy all that Term 4 has to offer and as we approach Christmas and prepare to celebrate the most joyful season of all.
