What a busy and wonderful start to Term 4 we have had at Inglewood Primary School! It has been fantastic to see our students return with such enthusiasm, ready for another exciting term of learning, fun and new experiences.
Our students have enjoyed four fantastic sessions at the new Somersault Gym, and what an experience it has been!
There have been plenty of smiles, laughter and some very tired bodies as students challenged themselves to try new activities and develop their gymnastics skills.
A highlight for many students was swinging on the bars, but they also enjoyed balancing, jumping, rolling, climbing and exploring the different equipment.
While the children were having an absolute ball, they were also developing some incredibly important skills, including:
It was particularly wonderful to see students stepping outside their comfort zones and discovering just how capable they really are.
We also enjoyed a fantastic dance incursion, which brought plenty of energy, music and laughter to our school!
One of the most pleasing aspects was seeing every single student join in. It was wonderful to watch students of all ages participating, having fun and showing the confidence to give something new a go.
The session was full of high-energy movement, laughter and big smiles, with students learning new moves, following routines and expressing themselves through dance.
These experiences are about so much more than simply having fun. They help children build confidence, coordination, social connections and a sense of belonging.
You may have noticed quite a bit of activity happening around our school grounds recently.
Following ongoing issues with water damage, we are pleased to share that a significant section of our school roof will be replaced in the coming weeks. These much-needed works should resolve the leaking issues we have been experiencing and help protect our classrooms for years to come.
We are also currently investigating some movement and damage to floorboards in several areas of the school. While these investigations are ongoing, we are working closely with the relevant teams to determine the cause and the best way forward.
I will continue to keep families updated as we learn more. As always, student and staff safety remains our highest priority, and we appreciate everyone's patience while these important works take place.
I would like to give a very special shout-out to Sim and Mr J for the absolutely wonderful work they have been doing around our school gardens and grounds.
Our school has truly never looked better!
The care, time and effort they have put into improving our outdoor spaces has made such a difference, and we are incredibly grateful. It is wonderful to see our school looking so welcoming and inviting for students, staff and families.
Speaking of our school grounds, at our upcoming School Council meeting, I will be proposing a community working bee to help us complete a few exciting outdoor projects.
Our main priority will be relocating our chicken coop further back, which will create additional space for our planned garden beds while also providing a better living environment for our much-loved school chickens.
We would also love some assistance with redistributing the soft fall in our playground.
This is a project that will definitely require a few extra hands, and we would love to get it completed as soon as possible.
If you have some time, skills or simply a willingness to lend a hand, please get in touch with the school. Many hands make light work, and we would be incredibly grateful for any support!
Another exciting development is that our new library space is currently being built!
We are all eagerly awaiting its installation in the coming weeks.
It will be wonderful to have our library back in the main school building, providing students with a welcoming space to explore books, discover new interests and develop their love of reading.
Having a dedicated and easily accessible library will also make it much easier for teachers to incorporate books and reading resources into their everyday teaching and learning programs.
We cannot wait to see this space come together!
Term 4 is certainly shaping up to be a very busy and exciting one, with plenty of wonderful experiences still to come, including our swimming program, karate sessions, Story Players performance, end-of-year celebrations and our much-anticipated Funfields excursion!
With so many events taking place, I encourage all families to regularly check the live calendar on UEducateUs for the most up-to-date information, including any changes to dates or activities.
Please make sure you lock important dates into your calendars so you don't miss out on any of the exciting things happening at IPS!
Thank you, as always, to our wonderful students, staff, families and wider school community for your continued support.
We are looking forward to a fantastic finish to 2026!
