School News and Information

STAGE THREE NEWS
Stage 3 has been buzzing with excitement this term! We are busy practising and preparing for our much-anticipated school play, Lollies, which we will perform in Week 5. Students have been great contributors, not only learning their parts but also helping paint the sets and decorate the hall. We can’t wait to share this special event with our school community!
Stage 3 really enjoyed welcoming the Year 4 students on Tuesday as part of their transition preparation for next year. We had a wonderful morning writing haiku poetry about gold and creating Torres Strait Islander-inspired artwork using gold pens. Here are some of our creations.
Our learning this term is centred around the fascinating themes of gold, innovation, and problem-solving. We are reading Valley of Gold by Jackie French, which immerses us in the adventurous world of the gold rush and highlights the multicultural stories that shaped Australia’s history. Beyond reading, we have been exploring poetry as a creative form of writing, expressing ideas inspired by these themes.
In Mathematics, we have been focusing on percentages and building strong number skills. Our students are progressing well and developing confidence with these concepts.
In History, we are learning about the gold rush. Over the past two weeks, we have been learning about tools used to find gold both in the past and the present. Thank you to Talon and Leo for bringing in their gold hunting tools to share with us and for answering all of our questions about fossicking. You guys are golden!
We look forward to sharing more achievements with you in the coming weeks!
