The Annual Comedy Night

What a night! Huge thanks to Lehmo, Nick Cody and Arj Barker for bringing the laughs and entertaining more than 200 guests at our annual comedy night last week. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a fun event!

While this is always a fantastic opportunity for our school community to come together and share some laughs, it also serves as one of our key fundraisers for the year.

This year’s event raised an incredible $12,000, which will go towards continuing the recarpeting and repainting of learning areas in the main school building.

During the most recent school holidays, the hallway leading to FKW, FLV and the Art Room was recarpeted, and the ramp was updated to meet current compliance standards. Hallways on both the ground and first floors, as well as both stairwells, were also freshly painted during this time.

Illnesses

This is a reminder that if your child is experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, they should not attend school.

Over the past few weeks, staff absences have been higher than normal. Please be aware that the availability of replacement teachers has already become limited, even before the end of autumn. We anticipate this situation may become more challenging as winter illnesses begin to increase.

We will continue working hard to avoid splitting classes across cohorts wherever possible; however, there may be occasions where this cannot be avoided. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping to keep our school community healthy.

Swimming and Water Safety

While it may be strange to be talking about swimming at this time of the year, The Health and Physical Education curriculum plays a significant role in building the knowledge, skills and understandings that apply to a range of health, wellbeing, safety and movement contexts, including swimming and water safety. During this term our Year 3 & 4 students participated in a swimming program that consisted of 10 lessons at the Collingwood Leisure Centre and focused on these two areas;

Once again having the support of parent volunteers to help walk students to and from their swimming lessons enabled this program to take place.

Foundation

The beginning of Term 2 has been an exciting and rewarding time for our Foundation students as they continue to settle into the daily routines of school life. Early in the term, they attended their first whole-school assembly, where they were warmly welcomed with three cheers from the school community. More recently, the students enjoyed their first school excursion when rheyattended Kew Traffic School. The visit provided a fun and engaging opportunity for them to develop important road safety skills as both cyclists and pedestrians.
