Foundation Pigeons 🐦 

Almost every day, a friendly pigeon named Muffin comes to visit students in the Art room and the Foundation classrooms. Muffin is very friendly and has lovely lilac colours in his feathers. These mixed media artworks are based on Muffin and we he hope he likes them! We were inspired by the mixed media artworks by Australian artist Aiden Weichard who uses bright colourful layers in different materials. 

Year 1 Rainsticks 

Year 1 students explored the history of rainsticks. Using cardboard tubes, wire and rice, they constructed rainsticks that they then covered in fabric that they had handstitched sequins into. As well as making a beautiful gentle rain sound, these beauties doubled as a fantastic percussion instrument,

Year 2 Embroidered Self Portraits 

Year 2 students explored the truly beautiful embroidered artworks by Mexican artist Victoria Villasana. After tracing a photograph of themselves, they designed and handstitched decorative details.
