PE News

Term 2 is one of the busiest terms in PE for the year, especially for our 5/6 students. As reported in the last newsletter we have already had success with the division bowls team. Thanks to Mr Curtis and Dave Anderton for organising training and supporting this event.
Throughout this term the Winter Sports events are run, with soccer, football and netball being offered as an option for students. These 3 days are spread throughout the term and give students participating a chance to represent BNPS against other schools in our division. We are also lucky enough to continue our work with golf instructor Tony Collier who will be coming in to run clinics for all students in years 3 through to 6. Tony has been coming to our school for around 30 years and is an amazing coach. We are very fortunate to be able to offer this at no cost to the students so everyone can participate. Once the winter sports days are wrapped up, we will be running tryouts for students wishing to participate in the division basketball. This event will be next term and is always a highly sort after event to be a part of.
Finally, this year was the first time in many years we have taken our cross country to North Gardens Reserve. It is also the first time we have run the junior and senior cross country at the same time. To add to the wonderful community feel we were lucky enough to have a beautiful day for running and lots of support from families to make the event run smoothly. Students really enjoyed having support from spectators and helpers all around the track and while making it through top 4 was not everyone’s focus it gave participants a real sense of achievement. We have deemed the event a success and with some continued tweaks will make this an annual event on the PE calendar. Well done to all students who gave it their best on the day.

Thank you to the parents who continue to offer assistance at our sporting events. I acknowledge it is difficult for many families, but events cannot run effectively without your ongoing support.
