Principal's Report
Meet and Greet
A huge thank you to all of the families that made the time to attend our Meet & Greet sessions. Our teachers have loved getting to know you all and understand a bit more about how we can best support your child in the year ahead. From the families that I have spoken with, parents/carers found this to be a valuable experience also. We are very excited about the quality partnership we have already began to carve out for 2025.
Staff Learning
Across the school year, school staff engage in a broad range of high level professional learning to ensure that we are the best at getting better! Most of our learning is lead by our amazing school based leaders, with levels of support from across the system. We are very lucky to have an amazing team of school-based experts that make up our Learning Leadership team. Their work continues to have a tremendous impact on improving the practice of our teacher and, of course, the outcomes for our students.
Literacy
Some key learning that is taking shape across the school has included learning about The Big Six in reading, with our Early Years teams diving deeply into systematic synthetic phonics and the Little Learners Love Literacy approach. Keep an eye out for the minor shifts in our approaches achieve even greater results.
SWPBS
Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support work continues to be implemented to embed Positive Classroom Management Strategies and explicitly teach positive expected behaviours at school. Teams are ensuring this remains a focus throughout the year, to ensure we maintain our calm and orderly learning environments here. Check out our behaviour matrix that is visible right across the school - maybe you can draw from this and use some of the same/similar language at home.
Respectful Relationships
This week staff began exploring some updates to the extremely important and mandated Respectful Relationships curriculum. Alongside the crucial learning around elements such as emotional literacy, strengths, stress management and help seeking, our staff revisited the horrific statistics around gender based violence and engaged deeply with the key intent of this work. You can see more about the importance of Respectful Relationships education and understand our role in changing the story on gender based violence HERE. Please take a moment and consider where you can actively support our mission in creating a safe and empowering community for all.
Curriculum Day - next Friday
Next Friday we will be having a student free curriculum day. During this day our staff will have the opportunity to spend a solid chunk of time exploring evidence and data to consider how we can best modify our practice to meet the needs of our students. The day will be spent exploring strategies to best differentiate learning to meet, and challenge, all students. Staff will de delving into a broad range of research evidence on differentiated learning, as well as analysing a range of student learning data. The objective for the day will centre around building our capacity and stronger networks within our school that ensure all students are adequately challenged to can meet their full potential.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN is just around the corner and technical preparations are well underway. Our students are more than ready to sit the tests in the coming weeks and we know that their strengths will be able to shine. For more information about NAPLAN, or how to support your child, please touch base with your child's teacher.
