A celebration of growth and learning 

As the term draws to a close, we take a moment to celebrate the growth, learning and discovery that has taken place in Campbell House this term. Through their everyday experiences and interactions at the ELC, the children continue to build independence, confidence and resilience. 

This term, the children have explored a range of engaging and thought-provoking inquiries that supported the development of their thinking, problem-solving and research skills. They have approached their learning with curiosity and enthusiasm, actively participating and building new understandings along the way. Learning areas have included identity and sense of self; family and cultural backgrounds; Australian animals; textiles, sewing and weaving; gardening and sustainability; STEM experiences; Indigenous culture and history; and community and the wider world. 

Being part of a community asks young children to listen, think, negotiate, problem-solve, share and support one another. This remains an ongoing area of growth as the children navigate the social dynamics of their classroom communities each day. These are skills that matter not only for success in an educational setting but for life more broadly, and it has been wonderful to watch them develop. 

Values such as kindness and respect continue to be nurtured throughout the term. The children have been exploring what kindness means, how to show kindness to others, and what it looks like to be a good friend. Respect, too, is an important focus - respect for themselves, for others, and for their learning environment and the materials they use. It has been a joy to see these values reflected in the children's play and everyday interactions. 

Term 4 promises to be another exciting chapter, with many opportunities for the children to further grow, develop and build on their learning. We wish all our Campbell House families a safe and restful holiday break. The children are looking forward to their holiday adventures, and we can't wait to hear all about them when they return to the ELC next term.

Spreading kindness through art

The children in Banksia and Wattle Rooms recently partnered with the Ronald McDonald Foundation to create collaborative artworks to be displayed in Parkville House, a home away from home for families with children receiving medical care at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Inspired by stories of love and kindness, the children illustrated hearts, rainbows, flowers, bees and hugs for the art works to represent connection and care.

Working alongside educators and parents, the children drew, painted, cut, glued and carefully placed each piece onto the canvas — building focus, patience and pride in their work along the way. This process of creating together reflects what collaborative art is all about: everyone contributing their own small part to something bigger, creating a shared sense of belonging and community spirit.

This week representatives from Ronald McDonald Foundation visited the ELC so that the children could present the artworks to them.  We are very proud of the children for spreading kindness beyond our walls and into the wider community.  These joyful artworks are sure to bring a smile to the faces of the many children and families who experience them at Parkville House for years to come.
