In This Edition

The prayer above was written by Pope Benedict in 2008. As a Catholic school named after St Anne, Grandmother of Jesus, grandparents hold a special place in the heart of our community. We pray that the grandparents in our children’s lives continue to be sources of growth, wisdom and love, each and every day.

We’ve reached the end of another productively busy term here at St Anne’s. Finishing the term with an Arts & STEM Showcase as well as Grandparents Afternoon has given us a genuine opportunity to showcase our students’ talent, hard work and hospitality to the wider community. Thanks to everyone who joined us for these events during the week. Our students (and staff) have definitely earned a break to recharge their batteries and get ready for an equally productive Term Four.

Arts & STEM Showcase

• Kudos to Ms Sarah (Visual Arts), Ms Hannan (STEM), Mrs Spiteri and Mrs B (Performing Arts) for their outstanding teaching in the lead up to the Showcase, the results of which were evident across the week. The breadth and scope of each program is testament to the expertise and dedication of the teachers who lead it. We don’t take that for granted, and I hope our students don’t either.
• We often say to families touring St Anne’s that the purpose of our Specialist program is to give each student a taste of the subject, with the idea that they can always pursue it further at secondary school. After seeing the talent on display at the Showcase, I’d suggest that our students are having more than just a taste of each subject - there’s at least a full meal!

Grandparents Afternoon - PFA

• Thanks to our amazing PFA who catered yesterday’s Grandparents Afternoon Tea. In previous years this event has been held in the morning, but based on feedback we decided to move it to the afternoon. There certainly was a buzz around the school as we welcomed a huge number of special visitors.

School Advisory Council (SAC) Update

• At our last meeting, the School Advisory Council looked over feedback from the school community around the current Year 4-6 Camp Program. At the end of a lengthy discussion, the group decided to recommend the following to the school for next year
  • Year 4-6 Camp program to continue for 2027 as per previous years, with a review to follow
  • Approximate Camp cost to be added to school fee statement at the start of the year
• The next SAC Meeting in early October will look at the school’s new Masterplan, with a presentation by Kosloff Architects.

Leave

• I will be on leave for the first 3 weeks of Term Four. Leona and Lauri will be Acting Principals in my absence.
