Year 1/2 Unit

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Term 2! Our Year 1/2 students have had a wonderful start to the term and have been excited to jump straight back into learning.
In Reading, we have begun exploring explanation texts. Students are learning to identify the features of these texts, such as their structure and how information is organised to explain how or why something happens.
In Writing, students are putting their new knowledge into practice by creating their own explanation texts. They are focusing on ensuring their writing stays on topic, follows the structure of an explanation text, and presents information clearly for their readers. We are very proud of their efforts as they continue to build confidence in their writing.
In Maths, our focus has been on time. Students are developing their understanding of concepts such as sequencing events and measuring duration. You may like to support this learning at home by discussing daily routines and encouraging your child to tell the time throughout the day.
In Inquiry, we are investigating forces, with a particular focus on push and pull. Students are exploring how forces affect the movement of objects in everyday life. Their enthusiasm for investigating and asking questions has been fantastic to see!
We also started the term with a bang by completing the Cross Country last Thursday. It was wonderful to see everyone giving their best effort. All students should be very proud of the way they supported one another and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the event.
It has been a busy and productive start to Year 1/2 this term, and we look forward to continuing our learning journey together over the next 10 weeks.
