Delahey Campus Term 3, August 2026

Welcome to the Delahey Campus

We are delighted to welcome Mr Nick Hooper, who joins us as Acting Assistant Principal. His expertise, positive approach and focus on high expectations will be a valuable addition to the Delahey Campus and our wider college community. We look forward to the leadership, energy and fresh perspectives he will bring to his new role.

We also extend a warm welcome to Ms Reeko Luo, who has been appointed as our International Student Program Coordinator. We look forward to the expertise and enthusiasm she will bring to supporting our international students and program.

Welcome, Mr Hooper and Ms. Luo! We wish you both every success in your new roles.

Farewell to Lance Petherick

We farewell Mr. Lance Petherick with sincere gratitude for his outstanding leadership, dedication and lasting contribution to Copperfield College.

Throughout his time at Copperfield, Lance has placed students at the heart of every decision and built strong, authentic relationships across our school community.

We congratulate Lance on his new role as Assistant Principal at Dohertys Creek P–9 College and wish him every success in this exciting next chapter.

We thank Mr. Petherick for his valued contribution and wish him every success for the future.

Term 3 Assembly

Term 3 commenced with a whole-campus assembly led by our College Captains. The occasion began with a wonderful performance of the National Anthem, performed by Alexander Putrino, setting a respectful and inspiring tone for the assembly.

The assembly showcased a range of musical performances, celebrated recent sporting achievements, recognised our Western Chances recipients, and provided students with valuable Pathways information. We were also proud to hear from our Be Heard Be Bold advocates, who confidently shared their work and the important contribution they are making to our College community. Their willingness to speak up, advocate for others and promote positive change was an inspiring part of the assembly.

College Principal Mr. Adamou reminded students of our college values and the high expectations we hold for every member of our community. He encouraged students to take pride in their learning, demonstrate respect and responsibility, and remain committed to achieving their personal best. He reinforced the importance of making positive choices each day and contributing to a supportive, respectful and successful College community.

Campus Principal Ms Soula Dedes reinforced an important message: “Excellence is earned long before the final whistle.” This message was particularly important for our Year 12 students as they continue their journey towards their final examinations. Ms. Dedes reminded all students that results will not be shaped by one exam day alone, but by the choices students make in the weeks ahead, every lesson, every practice paper, every question asked, and every hour of preparation.

We proudly congratulate our Year 11 and Year 12 Triple R winners, whose commitment, responsibility and resilience exemplify our College values.

Triple R Winners

We congratulate all of our Triple R winners on this well-deserved recognition. Their achievements reflect the importance of consistency, positive choices, commitment and a willingness to strive for excellence.

As we begin Term 3, we encourage all students to embrace the opportunities ahead, maintain high expectations and make every lesson, every opportunity and everyday count. Most importantly, let us remember that excellence is earned long before the final whistle

Congratulations to Montana Cauchi 

2026 Marrung Education Scholarship Recipient   

Congratulations to Montana Cauchi (Year 11) on being awarded a 2026 Marrung Education Scholarship. The Marrung Education Scholarships recognise Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students who demonstrate strong academic potential, commitment to their education, and a dedication to their community and future pathway.

Montana is one of just 30 students across Victoria to receive this prestigious scholarship in 2026. This outstanding achievement is a wonderful recognition of her hard work, dedication and potential.

We are incredibly proud of Montana and congratulate her on this well-deserved accomplishment.

Victorian State Schools Spectacular 2026

For more than 30 years, the Victorian State Schools Spectacular has celebrated the creativity and talent of students from across Victoria, bringing together young performers for an incredible showcase of song, dance, circus and live music, accompanied by an 80-piece orchestra.

We are delighted to congratulate Aydin Kendjer (Year 11), who has been selected to perform as a Principal Dancer in the 2026 Spectacular, This Is Me.

This is a wonderful recognition of Aydin’s talent, dedication and passion for dance. We are incredibly proud of his achievement and look forward to seeing him shine on stage.

Year 12 English Students at ACMI 

Year 12 English students extended their learning beyond the classroom through an enriching excursion to ACMI. Students viewed the classic film Sunset Boulevard and participated in an insightful lecture exploring its key themes, characters and cinematic techniques.

The experience provided valuable contextual understanding, encouraged thoughtful discussion and deepened students’ appreciation of the film. It was a meaningful opportunity to enhance their analytical skills and further support their ongoing Unit 4 English studies.

A special thank you to Ms Sindhu Jayaram for her organisation of the excursion, and                to all staff who attended and supported our students throughout this valuable learning experience.

Be Bold Be Heard: From Voice to Action

The Be Bold Be Heard (BBBH) program, which empowers young women and middle-years students to build confidence, strengthen their voice and create positive change, proudly hosted its second event at Delahey Campus on 5 August.

The event brought together students from Copperfield College and St Albans Secondary College for a meaningful day of leadership development, connection and inspiration. Through engaging discussions and shared experiences, students were encouraged to recognise their strengths, develop their leadership capabilities and commit to an action plan that would create positive change within their college communities.

A highlight of the event was an inspiring panel featuring Alice Jordan-Baird, Federal Member for Gorton; Mandy El Ali, School Council President and Copperfield College alumna; Vani Manokaran, Assistant Principal at Springside West Secondary College; and Soula Dedes, Campus Principal at Copperfield College Delahey Campus.

The panel members shared their personal experiences and perspectives on leadership, confidence and finding one’s voice. Their insights provided students with a valuable opportunity to learn about the importance of speaking up, embracing opportunities and advocating for positive change, while encouraging them to recognise the influence they can have within their schools and wider communities. 

Thank you to Danny Dedes, Principal of Taylors Lakes College, for also attending the event and supporting this important initiative. 

The day showcased the enthusiasm, potential and leadership capacity of our students. The school community looks forward to continuing the BBBH journey through future events that inspire and empower young women to be bold, be heard and create meaningful change.

Year 12 VM Students Explore Gambling Harm and Responsible Choices

As part of the Responsible Gambling Schools Program, Year 12 VM students participated in a Gambling Harm Incursion. 

The session provided students with an opportunity to develop their understanding of gambling-related harm, the risks associated with gambling, and strategies for making informed and responsible choices.

Australian Maths Competition

The Australian Maths Competition (AMC) is Australia’s longest-running and most well-known mathematics competition for school students. Each year, the AMC features unique problems designed by leading educators and academics to challenge and extend students’ problem-solving skills. 

Recently, the students at Delahey had the opportunity to participate in this exciting event. The competition encouraged students to think creatively, apply their mathematical knowledge and develop their problem-solving skills. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to challenge themselves, build confidence and experience the enjoyment of mathematics. 

Year 12 Outdoor and Environment Students: Exploring Phillip Island’s Natural Environments

Year 12 Outdoor and Environmental Studies (OES) students recently travelled to Phillip Island, gaining firsthand insight into environmental sustainability and the challenges facing Victoria’s unique natural environments. 

Through visits to the Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Reserve and Churchill Island Heritage Farm, students explored conservation initiatives and applied their classroom learning through engaging fieldwork experiences.

A valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of environmental stewardship and the importance of healthy outdoor environments.

A Day of Professional Learning and Wellbeing

The recent Curriculum Day at Copperfield College was a valuable opportunity for staff to learn, collaborate, reflect and reconnect. The day focused on strengthening professional practice, supporting student outcomes, and promoting staff wellbeing and growth. 

Teaching staff participated in a professional learning session led by guest speaker Shaun Faulkhead, School-wide Positive Behaviour 

Support Coach, exploring strategies to promote positive behaviour and strengthen a consistent, school-wide approach to student engagement.

Our Education Support Staff took part in Embracing Change, reflecting on the challenges and opportunities associated with change and exploring positive strategies to navigate transitions in the workplace.

Another focus of the day was Assessment and Reporting, with staff considering how assessment practices can be strengthened to effectively monitor and communicate student progress and achievement. Key Learning Areas worked collaboratively to review current processes, share effective practices and identify opportunities for greater consistency across the College. 

The afternoon shifted the focus to wellbeing, with all staff taking part in a range of activities designed to encourage connection, relaxation and enjoyment. The relaxed atmosphere provided an opportunity to recharge, build collegial connections and recognise the importance of wellbeing in sustaining a positive and supportive workplace
