Gospel Reflection

On 5 September, the Church celebrates the feast day of St Teresa of Calcutta, affectionately known as Mother Teresa. She dedicated her life to serving the poor, the sick and those who were often forgotten, reminding us that even the smallest acts of love and kindness can make a great difference.

Gospel Reading

Scripture

“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”1 John 3:18

This connects beautifully with Mother Teresa's life of putting love into action through service.

Family Connection

Mother Teresa believed that we do not need to do extraordinary things to make a difference. Instead, she encouraged us to do small things with great love. This week, families are invited to reflect on the simple ways we can show kindness, care and compassion to the people around us.

Family Discussion

  1. Who are the people in our lives who may need some extra kindness or care?
  2. What is one small act of love/kindness that we can do for someone else this week?
  3. How can our family help others feel included, valued and loved?

Family Activity

Choose one small act of kindness to complete together as a family. You might make a card for someone, help a neighbour, donate something you no longer need, prepare a meal for someone, or simply take time to listen and encourage a family member. At the end of the week, share how this small act made a difference.
