Dad's Footy Day

We’re getting excited for the annual Dad’s Footy Day against St Joan of Arc this Saturday! The children’s match kicks off at 1.00pm, followed by the main event at 3.00pm. It’s always a fantastic afternoon of fun, laughter and community spirit. You don’t need to be playing to join in; come along, cheer from the sidelines and let the children enjoy a great afternoon with their friends. The dads have also been busy working towards their fundraising goal, with generous support from many local businesses. Click here to see which businesses have supported us; we are incredibly grateful to each and every one of them.

I’m also excited to share that the dads’ group has been working towards raising enough funds to upgrade our four outdoor basketball and netball hoops and repair the hoop in the hall. It looks like these upgrades will be happening very soon! A huge thank you to Dan Kalnins for organising quotes and being instrumental in helping make this happen.

Father's/Special Person Day 

It's still ten days but we're excited to be celebrating all of the wonderful dad, grandgfathers, uncles, male role models in the lives of our students next week. 

The stall will be held next Thursday and students are encouraged to bring up to $15 to buy a gift. All are welcome to attend breakfast and our assembly on Friday morning. Don't forget to preorder your breakfast through CDF Pay before Sunday. Again, please see the P & F page of this newsletter for more info. 

Parent Teacher Interviews 

Our Parent Teacher Interviews are fast approaching on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th September. For our Years 3 to 6 students, this is also an opportunity for students to be involved in a conversation about their own learning so far this year.  You will have received a separate email today with the booking link, but you can also use this QR code if you prefer. 

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools - School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)

The MACSSIS survey window is now open and will remain so until Friday 18th September.  On Monday, each family will receive an email with your personal Family PIN to access the survey.  Last year, only about 40 families took part, and we’d love to see that number grow this year. We know it’s a bit of a time commitment (around 20 minutes to complete) but your feedback is incredibly valuable. 

Students in Years 4 to 6 will also complete their own version of the survey, and all staff take part as well. This is an annual initiative across all MACS schools, and the results give us important insights into how we’re going as a community and where we can continue to grow.

2027 Intentions

It’s hard to believe, but it is already time to start getting organised for 2027. A few days ago our current Prep - Year 5 parents received an NForma form asking to indicate whether your child will be returning to St Finbar’s in 2027.  While it might seem a little early to be thinking about next year, this information is really important as we begin our planning. It will help us to get an idea of our enrolment numbers for 2027 and, importantly, give us an indication of how many places we may have available for families currently on our waiting list.  We’d appreciate everyone completing the form as soon as possible so that we can begin putting our plans for next year together.
