Years 9 to 11 Callback Excursion

Students from Years 9 to 11, recently attended Callback, an annual showcase celebrating the outstanding talent of students who presented their work as part of the Higher School Certificate, Dance Practical Examinations for 2025.

Callback features exemplary performances in Core and Major Study components in Performance and Composition. The showcase offers an opportunity for younger dancers to witness the calibre of work produced at the highest level of secondary dance education in New South Wales.

For our Years 9 to 11 students, the excursion provided valuable insight into the expectations of senior dance study, sparking conversations about creativity, technique and the commitment required for HSC Dance. The accelerated Year 11 students found the experience particularly motivating as they continue developing their own works for assessment this year.

The evening was both inspiring and educational, giving students a deeper appreciation of the artistry, discipline and innovation that define HSC Dance. We look forward to seeing how this experience influences their own practice throughout 2026.

HSC Drama Shines at OnSTAGE

On Friday 13 February, our Years 10 to 12 Elective Drama students, accompanied by Ms Wenman and Ms Leong, attended OnSTAGE at the Seymour Centre.

OnSTAGE showcases outstanding Drama performances from students across the state who achieved Band 6 results in the HSC. Our students were thrilled and inspired by the exceptional calibre of the 2025 Band 6 group-devised works and individual performances. The creativity, precision and professionalism displayed on stage provided a powerful insight into the standards of excellence possible in HSC Drama.

Students also examined exemplary works in Costume Design, Promotion and Program, Critical Analysis, and the Director’s Portfolio, gaining insight into the scope, structure, and standard required for success.

Through guided discussion, we unpacked the expectations of each project area, focusing on marking criteria, research depth, conceptual clarity, and presentation quality. Students asked thoughtful questions and reflected on how to apply these standards to their own work moving forward.

These conversations have helped to clarify course expectations and empower students to approach their HSC projects with confidence, creativity, and a clear understanding of what is required to achieve at the highest level.

Experiencing these performances firsthand allows our students to see what can be achieved through commitment, collaboration and refined theatrical skills. It was an invaluable opportunity to witness the high standard of work to which they can aspire in their own drama practice.

We look forward to seeing this inspiration reflected in our students’ future performances.
