Staffing Updates

I would like to inform our school community, Mrs Zanetti, our Assistant Principal Inclusive Education will be taking long service leave for the remainder of the year, commencing from the first day of Term 2. We sincerely thank Mrs. Zanetti for her dedication and commitment to our school, inclusive education and being an advocate in working towards removing racism from schools over the many years and wish her all the very best during her well-deserved leave.

The school is currently in the process of recruiting a suitable replacement to ensure continuity of learning and support for our students. We appreciate your understanding and support during this transition period.

Communicating with our school

As a parent or carer, you are an important part of our school community. You play a crucial role in helping your child become a motivated learner. Critical to your child's successful school experience is positive and respectful communication between a school and its parents and carers. The Communicating with our school norms has been shared with the community through Sentral Parent Portal and is displayed in our office. These norms are aligned with DoE expectations and encourage communication through phone, email or in person.

Feedback from a recent community survey strongly indicated the community is wanting a streamlined approach to communication with email being the most common form of communication being listed. The executive team have reviewed the platforms currently used for communication and their purpose. Moving towards 2027, the following platforms for communication will be used:

  • Sentral Parent App - Attendance, reports, newsletter
  • Email - Permission notes, payments, flyers, parent/carer sharing of information or raising a concern
  • Instagram - School promotion

Throughout 2026 the school will be phasing out ClassDojo, as this is a duplicate of communications purpose with all three modes listed above.

Attendance Matters

Education in New South Wales is compulsory for all children between the ages of six years and below the minimum school leaving age of 17 years. The Education Act 1990 requires that parents ensure their children of compulsory school age are enrolled at, and regularly attend school, or are registered with the NSW Education and Standards Authority for home schooling. Once enrolled, children are required to attend school each day it is open for students.

If your child's attendance in dropping below 90% the classroom teacher will reach out to discuss the challenges of coming to school.

If your child's attendance drops below 85% the school involves the Home School Liaison Officer, and supportive Attendance Improvement Plans are co-developed with the parent/carer, classroom teacher and student to improve the attendance.

Further information for parents and carers about school attendance can be accessed through the DoE Website - Compulsory school attendance

Belongings from home

We have observed an increasing number of students bringing special items from home to school. While we appreciate that students wish to share treasured items with their peers, we must also consider the potential risk of these items being damaged or lost.

Please be advised that the school cannot assume responsibility for personal belongings brought from home. Therefore, we strongly recommend that valuable or particularly special items remain at home where they can be kept safe. During learning time, staff will kindly remind students to store such items securely in their bags.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us safeguard our students' belongings.
