Sacrament of Confirmation

St Joseph’s Primary School and parish community in Barraba celebrated a joyous spiritual milestone on Sunday, 26 July, as local students received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The special celebration brought together candidates, families, sponsors, and parishioners for a memorable Mass presided over by Bishop Murphy, alongside parish priest Father Damian.

The atmosphere inside the church was filled with reverence and warmth as the candidates took their next step in their Catholic faith journey.

During the Mass, Bishop Murphy spoke directly to the students about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the importance of living out their faith with courage, kindness, and purpose.

The students prepared for months leading up to the day through classroom instruction, prayer, and reflection with their teachers and families. Their sponsors stood beside them at the altar as pillars of support and spiritual guidance.

Following the service, families gathered outside the church to congratulate the newly confirmed students, take commemorative photographs, and celebrate this key moment in their lives.

Congratulations to all the St Joseph’s students who made their Confirmation and heartfelt thanks to Bishop Murphy, Father Damian, the teaching staff, and parents who helped prepare them for this memorable day!

Angelus

We will be starting to learn this prayer as a whole school community next term. We have decided as a school community that, although the tradition is to say this prayer at midday each day, we will be adjusting this slightly to signal the transition between maths and religion lessons at 12.25pm each day. It is an opportunity to pause in our busy day and to take a moment to decompress and pray.

God bless,

Deb McDouall
