Principal's message

Hi Solway Community,
The past fortnight has been another busy one at here at school, with students making the most of the many opportunities on offer beyond the classroom. It has been wonderful to see the excitement building for our School Production, with rehearsals well underway across the school. The enthusiasm and commitment our students are showing each week is fantastic to see, and I know all their hard work will pay off when they take to the stage in Week 8. Our Grade 1 to 4 students have also commenced their Chess program, where they are developing strategic thinking, problem solving and resilience through play.
School Disco
A big thank you to Mr Guy and our SRC for organising another successful School Disco last week. It was wonderful to see so many students enjoying themselves with their friends and create lasting memories together. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success.
Junior Hooptime
Congratulations to all our Junior Hooptime teams who represented Solway last week. Our students displayed excellent sportsmanship, teamwork and determination throughout the competition and should be proud of the way they represented both themselves and our school. Thank you to Mr Duncan for coordinating the day and to the many parents who volunteered as coaches and supported our teams throughout the competition. Your willingness to give your time makes opportunities like these possible for our students.
100 Days of Prep
Congratulations to our Prep students who today celebrated their first 100 days of primary school. Over the past 100 days our Prep students have grown in confidence, developed new friendships and embraced the routines and expectations of school life. It was wonderful to see the excitement and creativity they brought to the celebrations, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved so far this year. We look forward to watching them continue to grow throughout the remainder of the year.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our recent Parent Teacher Interviews. It was pleasing to see so many families taking the opportunity to meet with teachers and discuss their child's learning, progress and goals for the remainder of the year. Strong partnerships between home and school are one of the greatest contributors to student success. When families and teachers work together, students feel supported, valued and confident in their learning.
I would also like to thank our teachers for the care and preparation they put into each interview. These conversations reflect their ongoing commitment to knowing every student as a learner and maintaining positive relationships with families. As we move into the second half of the year, I encourage families to continue the learning conversations at home. Take time to celebrate what your child has achieved, recognising not only academic success but also qualities such as perseverance, curiosity, kindness and resilience. Celebrating growth helps children build confidence and recognise how much they have learned.
Annual Reporting to the Community
A reminder that our next School Council meeting will be held Tuesday, 6:00pm at school and will include our Annual Reporting to the Community meeting. This meeting provides an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past year, share our progress against key improvement priorities and celebrate the many successes of our students and school community. All members of our school community are welcome to attend, and I encourage anyone who is interested to join us.
Thank you for your continued support and let's all strive to be “our best always”.
